Since the dial is not glossy, it gives the watch an excellent depth behind the sapphire crystal. The case is made from titanium and is very light, but not light enough to feel cheap. I suspect that the sapphire crystal and the thicker quartz movement account for the added weight. Titanium is an intriguing finish, and this watch seemed especially scratch resistant, unlike some other titanium watches I have owned.All of the dial markers are luminous, but they did not pass the "movie test". I saw the finale in the Bourne series, and found myself turning the watch toward the screen in order to read it. The luminosity is intense at first, but dies quickly — something I didn't expect from a company so dedicated to SCUBA diving. The second hand on the watch has been coated in a pinkish luminous paint, and at night looks very cool. At 45mm, it is larger than anything I normally wear. The Aeromax wears very large because there is no bezel; the dial is literally the entire watch which is a good thing as it creates a *** and classy feel. How do I judge the overall value of a watch? Let me put it this way: the Luminox Navy Seal isn't the most sturdy watch I own, but if I ever managed to destroy it, I would have no problem spending the money to replace it, and would probably do so at the first opportunity.That's not to say I expect to destroy it. The Luminox Navy Seal is a relatively inexpensive watch made from relatively inexpensive materials, however it's quite sturdy (don't confuse inexpensive with cheap). The polymer case is very solid, the crown is protected, and the mineral glass crystal should stand up to anything but a hard direct impact.Tritium gas tube illumination. All three hands, hour markers, and the "bezel pearl" all have tritium gas tubes embedded in them for 25 years of constant illumination. Unidirectional ratcheting bezel. Quartz movement with date. I've found the movement in the Luminox Navy Seal to be quite accurate — I've had it for about a month, and it has only gained about a second. Mineral glass crystal. 4 year battery with an end of life indicator (the second hand starts jumping in 4-second increments when you need a new battery). Water resistant to 200 meters, or about 650 feet. Hard plastic 43 mm case with a stainless steel caseback, push-in crown (fairly well protected by crown guards), and a very soft and comfortable polyurethane strap.
